Multi-section longstitch flexible-backed everlasting booklet

One day this might have a shorter title. The construction does not fall into any recognized category, with any descriptive name ~ hence my use of several bits of jargon. I am not sure how wide a field is embraced by "longstitch binding". I suspect that purists (or professionals) will object. Even flexible-backed is dubious.

This binding is a blend of several techniques, all leading to hardwearing, satisfactory booklets that can be quickly made by any craftsperson or inexperienced binder. Although I make dozens, I have no photographs at present. I will also provide detailed instructions..sometime...

There are several design advantages that make this style of book different from run-of-the-mill bookbinding expectations. It is easy for the end user to add or remove sections at a later stage. Ideal for your holiday snaps ~ when you suddenly realise you forgot to plan for some stunning pictorial exploits ~ ideal for your wedding album ~ when the best man's wife sends an extra dozen stunning pictures that are well worth including ~ ideal for an artist's notebook ~ when the preliminary sketches turned out obe rubbish ~ now - your think of something...That is why we call it everlasting. That is why we recommend a good strong leather wraparound. (Traveller's Journal is another label that sprung to mind.

The exposed stitching will take more wear and tear that some other styles, in common with Coptic Binding and Longstitch Binding. So thicker threads are suggested. If the album is to be used as a scrapbook or album with thick embellishments then thicker thread is suggested instead of the traditional bound-in slips.
