We are concentrating on the use of Binding Posts in bookcraft, but they are used to a great extent by leatherworkers (for decoration and for joining two pieces of leather together). Electricians also use the "posts" for the terminals built into an equipment case for anchoring cables to the main item.

================= Homemade pushpins in use

Samples of home-made pushpins in use

Long ~ thin ~ strong ~ sharp ~ with a large head ~ push pins are an ideal tool for helping with many craft situations. I find them mainly useful as a guide for gluing things in the right place, and then for holding things in place whilst glue sets. The pictures explain it best.

There is a page explaining how I made these pins [123383].

Pushpins in use as guides

These pins are at an angle, and guide the T-piece into place as it is lowered.

Pushpins help to hold things in place, and square

Once in place the pins are re-pushed in order to keep the T-piece upright

A pin acts as a cramp

This pin is holding two pieces, glued face-to-face, in position, to prevent slippage ~ and also in close proximity to each other ~ to stop them springing apart
