Folders of various types

Bone ~ plastic ~ steel ~ stone ~ wood

Here ~ in no particular order ~ are some notes on the various types of folders that are commonly available. The comments are not meant to recommend or criticise any particular material. Beginners to craftwork might appreciate weighing the various qualities and economies of this useful and inexpensive tool.

Plastic folders will melt with the heat of friction. ~
This one was three days old

A stainless steel letter opener is useful as a folder.
This one is a bit long for everyday folding use ~
and the handle is rather unpleasant to hold ~
The narrow blade can slip easily into an envelope - the intended purpose~
Here it is being used to open a slot in a sheet of folded papaper ~
as a novel book is being made [124503].

A small plastic folder
With careful use the melting ~ shown in the top picture above ~
does not always happen
I find the small small size less useful than the larger ones

A steel folder being used for spreading glue and pressing down ~
I have a page of notes on steel folder misuse [124745]

An agate folder ~ Very hard but brittle if misused ~
They are shaped from naturally occuring volcanic stone

V I have no experience of it and so cannot write notes alid XHTML 1.0 Transitional Valid CSS!
