Binding with glue
Busy-busy ~ making a book ~ binding with glue
Binding with glue can be done by hand, without machinery, and with good results. The thickness of the book is not really an issue. Machines are available for office use (with special hot-melt binders) and for small and large trade use. The glue can be weak or brittle - as in a notepad, where pages need to be torn off easily. Or strong, and flexible, as in books. Some years ago the pages of glue-bound books tended to fall out easiy with wear, but modern gluing techniques give excellent results, and millions of books, booklets and pamphlets are bound together with glue. We offer a kit with full instructions and materials for making small booklets using glue only, and without the use of needles or knives. This kit is eminently suitable for younger craftspeople, or group use where the available supervision might not be as diligent as required when sharp tools are in use.
